Music in the hands of expert therapists has a unique power to comfort and heal. The benefits are so compelling that more than 900 musicians are preparing to raise their voices and instruments to help support sick kids.
Coming together for the 26thannual Celebration Sing Out! 2018, the huge community of participating singers and orchestral players will perform a special concert at Sydney’s Town Hall, with an aim of raising $40,000 for the Music Therapy program at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Led by the inspirational Mal Hewitt OAM and presented by the Collegiate of Specialist Music Educators (CSME), the Celebration Sing Out! 2018 concert will see choirs of talented and committed children and youth join forces with experienced adult performers, a symphony orchestra and the mighty Sydney Town Hall organ.
Audiences are guaranteed a visual spectacle and a musical feast that will make them swoon, smile, laugh and maybe even cry a little with the 2018 program centrepiece including excerpts from the iconic Carmina Burana plus favourites like Danny Boy, You’ll Never Walk Alone and Don’t Cry Out Loud.
Like many of the patients who travel to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead from regional areas, performers will travel from right across New South Wales to participate in Celebration Sing Out! and help raise vital funds for music therapy.
Since its inception, Celebration Sing Out! has raised $500,000 to continue the support and development of music therapy and other units at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The Celebration Sing Out! 2018 concert will be held at 7pmon Sunday, 28 October at Sydney Town Hall. Tickets are $40 and $30 and can be purchased at csme.org.au/celebration
