3. Listen and Learn (its just like Karaoke for Beethoven) 4. Record or Video yourself then 5. Upload!

Decide if you want to sing, play, or do both (together, or separately). Think of how you want to present your performance.

So, on your own or with a group, grab your smart phone, tablet or computer, get creative and get into it!
1. Dancing or moving to the music and smiling, shoot a 5 - 15 second video:
EITHER Holding a "Donate Now!" sign OR
Holding a "Happy Birthday Beethoven! sign. (No sound recording needed)
OR
2. EASY: Make a video of you singing or playing your instrument for a short or easy section of the Ode to Joy or O come all ye faithful along with the recording, but the sound of your singing or playing will not be submitted. Most instruments, including guitars, have parts provided in the Green Room.
OR
3. MORE CHALLENGING: As for 2., but record your your video PLUS your singing or playing & upload it for the YouTube concert.
OR
4. Perform a more difficult section or the all of the music and record either the audio only, or the audio and video.
THEN
5. Upload your video
The big piece is the choral section from Beethoven Symphony No. 9 (Ode to Joy). You can choose which sections and how you want to perform. Click here for a Flashmob performance inspiration. It's Famous!
The tune is famous and easy to sing or play. You may simply join in the melody or strum the chords, for example.
Choral singers and orchestral players can sing Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass or play their part from the Beethoven Orchestral Score.

INGREDIENTS
1. Loads of fun and enthusiasm … on your own, with fiends, or a group.
METHOD
Log on the csme.org.au/celebration to register and download your music

EXPERIMENT
1. TO RECORD MUSIC AND VIDEO RECORDING TOGETHER
You need a phone camera, webcam or a camera to record.
Find a way to make it still. your music stand, tripod, bookshelf. Not someone else holding it! If it must be handheld, lean on a firm surface.
2. SCRIPT: Announce name(s), school, location etc.
3. PROCESS: Wave at the camera before script then before playing.
4. PRO TIPS!
5. WHAT TO WEAR: Consider wearing clothing and accessories that will identify you clearly in the finished video.
Ensure that you are not wearing items that will create noise of visual distraction.
For school students this could be school uniform or other clothes you choose.
Use logos or signs to identify your school
6. Announce what you are singing and playing.
7. You'll need a second smartphone, tablet or computer to play the tracks in the video.

8. Play the guide tracks through earphones of earbuds, NOT Speakers, unless it is a "no soundtrack". CREATIVE
10. Hide earbuds or have headphones, ear phones. Ensure that the microphone of the phone is not obstructed. Avoid a noisy or rattly surface.
9. More important: Keep a position where we can see them or their instruments centre-frame.
10 Record in a quiet room.
11. Everyone needs someone to help them make their video: Parent, sibling, friend etc.
12. Just singing: Keep in Centre Frame.
13. Some instruments and vocals will be better in vertical orientation, others more in landscape. Up to you so long as the shot is clear. Allow for groups.
14. Ensure that your phone or camera cannot fall or come loose. Anticipate, mitigate and avoid damage.
15. Dance, move, shout out or mood video
Maximum 60 secs responding to and in time with the Beethoven Chorus or in support of Music Therapy at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, or Happy Birthday Beethoven 250 Years!

- Ensure the music stand does not obstruct the shot. Folding wire stands are preferred. Use BluTak or Gaff tape to keep things in place.
- BACKGROUND: Not distracting and is appropriate.
- LIGHT: Ensure faces are well lit and not in shadow.
