About Celebration Sing Out! 2026

An inclusive choral experience for secondary school students and adult singers.
​
Celebration Sing Out! 2026 is a heart-warming and inspiring community festival of popular classics and classic pop, performed by choral and orchestral performers aged 8 to 88, from Sydney and across NSW.

At its heart, Celebration Sing Out! is about kids helping kids, with youth and adult singers and orchestral musicians leading the way — sharing the healing power of music and raising much-needed funds for Music Therapy at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

For secondary school students and adult singers alike, this is a rare opportunity to sing major SATB choral repertoire with a symphony orchestra in the heritage-listed Sydney Town Hall, under the guidance of outstanding conductors and music educators.

There is no audition, and there is no minimum level of skill or experience required. This is a massed student and adult community choir with orchestra. You can learn as you go, choose your pace, at your place.

Participation for high school students is completely free. Adult singers make a voluntary contribution equal to the price of a ticket, towards costs such as licencing and resource preparation.

The Concert Experience

Celebration Sing Out! 2026 brings together primary students, secondary students, adult singers, orchestra, organ and audience in one large-scale community concert.

​The concert includes:

• massed primary school choirs
• individual school instrumental and vocal items
• a massed secondary and adult SATB choir
• symphony orchestra
• the Sydney Town Hall Grand Pipe Organ
• a full-house finale with primary, secondary and adult singers together with audience participation​
• For high school students, the second half of the concert is the major drawcard: singing powerful SATB choruses with orchestra in one of Sydney’s great civic performance spaces.

2026 Program Highlights

The High School and Adult Combined Choirs will perform with TOPS, the Celebration Sing Out!, a superb community-based symphony orchestra.

Program highlights include:

• Mozart — Requiem
  Including Introitus, Kyrie, Dies irae, Rex tremendae, Confutatis and Lacrimosa
• Tchaikovsky — 1812 Overture
  Choral version, with symphony orchestra, and all the spectacle this work invites
• Peter Allen — I Still Call Australia Home
  A heart-warming grand finale from The Boy From Oz, bringing together 350+ primary children, 350+ secondary and adult singers, orchestra and audience participation

This is repertoire students and adults alike will remember: dramatic, moving, familiar, challenging, celebratory and deeply rewarding to sing.

Celebration Sing Out! 2026 will bring together more than 800 children, youth and adult singers from schools and communities across Sydney, NSW and Australia.

The musical forces will include:

• Massed Primary Schools Choirs
• High School and Adult Combined Choirs
• TOPS, the Celebration Sing Out! symphony orchestra
• Sydney Town Hall Grand Pipe Organ
• School instrumental and vocal items
• Audience participation in the finale

For secondary students and most adult choirs, the experience of singing as part of a large SATB choir with symphony orchestra is a powerful extension beyond the regular rehearsal room and concert.

The Conductors
Respected Leadership

You will work within a program led by respected choral, orchestral and music education leaders.

Brett Weymark OAM — Patron
Artistic Director of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Brett is one of Australia’s leading choral conductors and a major drawcard for singers and teachers alike.

Warren Fisher — Artistic Director
Leads the artistic vision of Celebration Sing Out! and brings deep experience in choral direction, school music, vocal education and large-scale community performance.

Jay House — Associate Artistic Director, Primary Choir
Leads the primary choir program, conducting the massed primary choir in the first half of the concert.

President and Music Director of TOPS, The Occasional Performing Sinfonia.

Celebration Sing Out! gives you the opportunities to:

• Perform at the heritage-listed Sydney Town Hall
• Sing SATB choral repertoire with symphony orchestra

• Work within a program associated with iconic teaching conductors, Brett Weymark OAM and Warren Fisher

For individual students and established choirs alike, this is an immersive performance experience beyond what most can experience. For schools or for adults without access to an existing choir, it provides a practical and motivating framework to build a new ensemble or support individual singers.

Celebration Sing Out! is aligned with the NSW Stages 4, 5 and 6 Music Syllabuses.
The program is organised and led by serving and retired teachers and reflects authentic classroom and school rehearsal practice.

Participation in CSO! can support:

• Repertoire, style and historical context
• Australian music and cultural identity

Sight-singing experience is not required. Students can learn through notation, listening, repetition, guide tracks, teacher support, online rehearsal materials and independent practice, for example.

Celebration Sing Out! values the musical, cultural and personal background that each student brings to the choir. The teaching and learning approach is designed to support students from a wide range of school communities, musical backgrounds and levels of experience.

All repertoire, teaching materials and rehearsal resources for high school participants are provided online at no cost.
Schools will have access to practical learning support, including:

• Printable scores and lyrics
• Resources suitable for screen display or hard copy
• Voice-part guide tracks
• Streaming and downloadable audio resources
• Sample performances to build student confidence and awareness
• Learning guidance for teachers and students
• Optional workshops
• Webcast rehearsals
• Recordings of online rehearsals and workshops
• Curriculum links and teaching notes where available

With these resources online, students can reinforce school-based learning through independent practice at home. This helps make participation manageable for busy teachers and accessible for students with different learning styles.

Facilitation & Benefits

Only one day is essential for participation: the final rehearsal and performance day.
There are:

• No compulsory rehearsal days out of school
• No audition requirements
• No participation fee for high school students
• No minimum choir size
• Flexible preparation options
• Online resources to support both teacher-led and independent learning

Teachers remain central to school participation, but the online resource model allows students to prepare flexibly and helps reduce the rehearsal burden on schools.

Only this one day is essential for participation.
​There are no required days out of school.

Who can register?

High schools and secondary colleges are encouraged to register:

• Established school choirs
• Vocal ensembles
• Elective music classes
• Combined groups from several year levels
• Newly formed groups created for Celebration Sing Out!
• Individual singers or small groups representing their school

Approximate numbers are fine at the registration stage. Final student numbers, voice parts and participation details can be confirmed later.
